Parent Coaching and Therapy

Find Your Best To Give Your Child

While there are certainly many factors that contribute to children’s well-being, including their inborn temperament, sensory processing, relationships and experiences at daycare or school, just to name a few, parents can have a significant positive impact on their children’s social-emotional development and well being. Each step in the daily routine, every cuddle and story and chat time, every meltdown and tear and scream, every small achievement and misstep with children offers parents the unique opportunity to connect with their children. Through this connection, parents can support their children's nervous system, strengthen a lagging skill, and meet their children’s deepest needs. In this way, children can feel secure in their lives and about themselves so they can be free to learn and grow and persevere with compassion and self-efficacy. From this perspective, parent support can often be the most efficient intervention in the successful development or effective coping of children.

Through parent coaching I invite parents to play an active role and increase their nurturing involvement in their child’s development or coping. In so doing, I empower parents with advanced scientifically-validated strategies to support their child's nervous system, and enhance their child’s well-being and healthy brain development in supportive and productive ways.  Parent support can be effective to help children with more sensitive or inhibited characteristics, feisty behaviour, and through difficult developmental stages, transitional periods, or the recovery of symptoms.

Parent support also offers the opportunity for psychotherapy for parents to explore their experience of parenthood, including their values, emotions, memories, dreams, worries, stress, and feeling of competence.  With curiosity and compassion we can understand more deeply what gets triggered during difficult parenting moments and create healing around these experiences.

I focus on harnessing the connection between parent and child, as well as parent with self, as I believe these relationships are fundamental to raising joyful, thriving, resilient, and compassionate children. Because I work from an attachment perspective and because of your importance in your child’s life, you can expect that in parent support work we will shift between parent coaching tools for your child, and parent psychotherapy to gain greater insight and healing for yourself.
