My Practice and Approach
In my mission to help grow children who thrive with psychological flexibility, resilience and compassion in their development and relationships, I offer parent psychotherapy in my private telepractice.
I am committed to helping each family discover their inner strengths and find what works best for them to achieve their goals. To this end, I am integrative in my approach, adapting evidence-based skills and principles primarily from
-
Integrative Attachment Family Therapy (IAFT) to promote secure relationships;
-
Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to transform unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns into a positive growth mindset;
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help parents (and their children) cope with distress that arises when they are pursuing personally meaningful values and goals;
-
Compassion-focused (CFT) and Mindfulness-based approaches to promote resilience;
-
and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) to support parents with skills to meet their children's needs and to support themselves as caregivers.
Typically, my approach to intervention is goal-directed, skill-building, active, and collaborative. I strive to create a compassionate, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic relationship in which clients can explore and experiment with new ways of thinking and behaving that lead to an enhanced sense of well-being and living a life aligned with what matters most to your heart.
My private practice is virtual. I offer teletherapy to parents and caregivers from around the province of Quebec. Services are provided in English. Appointments are available in the mornings and early afternoons on weekdays.
My Education and Experience
I earned my Ph.D. in Applied Child and School Psychology from McGill University in 2007 and have been a member in good standing with the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ) since 2009. I have provided assessment and intervention for children and their families who have neurodevelopmental disabilities (e.g., ASD, ADHD), emotional difficulties, behaviour problems and learning disabilities as a Psychologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, a school for children with developmental disabilities, and in private practice settings. I have also taught and supervised the clinical work of graduate students as a sessional instructor at McGill University’s Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology. I am also the mother of two terrific kids.
